When the head of a security outfit detailed to keep watch over an accused person now saw what happened, heard a lot of facts and had enough reasons to declare that an accused is innocent, is he not believable?
Before His conception and until now, the life and death of Jesus Christ (you can call it His story) is filled with witnesses of who He claimed to be and His works. So, to any discerning mind, there are more than enough evidence that “Jesus Christ is the Son of God”.
The accusation, trial, crucifixion and burial of Jesus Christ was done with enough soldiers available. Let us read a few of their misdeeds to Jesus Christ in Mark 15:16-18.
“Then the soldiers led Him away into the hall
called Praetorioum, and they called together the
And they clothed Him with purple, and they
twisted a crown of thorns, put it on His head,
and began to salute Him. “Hail, King of the Jews”
This was done to Him with loads of insults heaped on Him. Trust a group of security men given the opportunity to deal with an accused person. They will bring every punishmement on him.
However, in the midst of all these, the head of soldiers, a centurion, stood directly opposite Jesus Christ, watching everything going on. When Jesus cried out and breathed His last, the Officer said, “Truly this Man (Jesus Christ) was the Son of God!” Mark 15:39.
This statement was made by the head of soldiers who were not less than one hundred in number. Will you say that he was not matured and competent to say so? He was sent by those who were against Jesus Christ and His saving doctrines. Still, he said the truth. He made it known to the people of his time and those after (until eternity) that “Truly this Man was the Son of God!” I am not sure of what the authority then did to him for making such assertion but one thing he did, he was a witness that “Truly Jesus Christ was the Son of God!”
It is now left to those who want to believe to do so. Those who have ears to hear will hear and believe or not, the truth remains according to the Centurion
“Truly this man was the son of God!”
Meet you next week for another witness that “Jesus Christ is the son of God”. Stay blessed and rapturable!
