Eighth Witness: An Injurious Man

The man called himself an injurious man. In the New King James Version, the word ‘injurious’ was translated ‘insolent’. This injurious or insolent man added two other names.Hear him in I Timothy 1:13 saying,
‘although I was formerly a blasphemer,a persecutor, and an insolent man;but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.’
Why was this man so unkind to himself to have called himself these names?
He knew himself and his previous activities. He wrecked a lot of havoc among believers in Jesus Christ.
He really persecuted The Way.He was an antagonist of Jesus Christ.Antagonist of the highest order! Hear his story from his mouth,
‘And when the blood of Your martyr Stephen was shed,I was standing by consenting to his death, and guarding the clothes of those who were killing him.’ Acts 22:20.
It was during the time of his anti-Christ activities that he had an encounter with the Son of God on his way to Damascus.
‘As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him,
“Saul! Saul! why are you persecuting Me?
And he said,”Who are you,Lord?”
Then the Lord said,”I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.
It is hard for you to kick against the goads.” Acts 9:3-5
The man,Saul, became blind to religion and his eyes were opened later to light in Christ forever. As from that time onward,he started to walk with Christ and other brethren. He carried out all his injurious activities in ignorance as some people are doing today.
What was the testimony of Saul who later became Paul? The Bible records,
’18 Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once;and he arose and was baptized….
20 Immediately he preached the Christ in synagogues, that He is the Son of God.” Acts 9.
Was Saul, now Paul, not a good witness? What he once condemned,he was ready to die for.A divine encounter revealed the truth to him.He knew the truth and was set free to preach the truth. Those who knew him as a persecutor were amazed to see him preach what he once waged war against.
When he embraced the truth, people found it difficult to embrace him.
However,he was later welcomed into the midst of children of God.
Therefore,if an injurious man, persecuting the way turned round to swallow his words and pride, who will not believe his testimony? He had a first-hand experience of what he later preached.Be convinced that Jesus Christ is the Son of God:An injurious man said so!

Every Bible quotation is taken from New King James Version.
