In the last write-up,we have discussed the effect and outcome of heeding a woman’s voice in the garden of Eden.
This affected mankind in general until today.
Let us consider more voices of women and their negative effects on their generation:
1. The Voice of Sarah.
The father of faith,Abraham, loved his wife and wanted to please her. He wanted to make her happy by all means.
Because Sarah was barren, she gave her maid,Hagar,to her husband to have children by her.
To please her,Abraham heeded the voice of his wife. That action affected, and still affects this generation, that generation.
After Hagar’s conception, her mistress became despised in her eyes. What did Sarah do? She confronted him with
“My wrong be upon you! I gave my maid
into your embrace, and when she saw that she
had conceid,I became despised in her eyes.
The Lord judge between you and me.” Genesis16:5.
The woman blamed her husband for Hagar’s misbehavior to her. Who initiated the whole thing? Was she not the person?
The product of that pregnancy by Hagar,Ishmael and his descendants, became a prolem for human race until today. Hear what his destiny looked like, when the Lord spoke to Hagar,in Genesis 16:11-12,
“Behold,you are with child,
And you shall bear a son,
You shall call his name Ishmael,
Becaus the Lord has heard your affliction.
He shall be a wild man;
His hand shall be against every man.
And every man’s hand against him.
And he shall dwell in the presence
of all his brethren.”
Thank God that the father of faith did not miss the kingdom of God. He did not lose his close relationship with God. He ,however, paid the emotional penalty of departing with his son,Ishmael, permanently when he was ordered by God to obey the second voice of Sarah. She demanded that Hagar and Ishmael be driven away from her matrimonial home.
Let me reiterate it here that a man must not because of love for a woman lose his position before God and mankind.
A wife is called the ‘favor’ of God in Proverbs 8:22. Read Apostle Paul’s observation in 1 Corinthians 7:2-4,29,32-35.
Read also the authority of man over a woman in numbers 30:1-16. Read also how a woman can tactically load sins on her husband to carry in Jeremiah 44:19,
‘The women also said,”And when we burned incense to the
queen of heaven and poured out drink offerings to her,
did we make cakes for her,to worship her,and pour out drink
offerings to her without our husband’s permission?” ‘
King Ahab was not as lucky. He knew very well how to tremble before the Lord at His rebuke. He knew how to humble himself before the Lord. However, the wife, Jezebel would not allow him to do that which pleased the Lord. Read 1Kings16:30-33;21:27-29. Pay attention to verses 25-26.
King Solomon had his own share of women’s voice. His mother’s inordinate request that could endanger his life. She asked for a woman inherited from King David for Adonijah,Solomon’s elder brother. He refused his mother’s request. Read 1 Kings1:16-30 for full details.
However,at the end of his life, the voices of women turned the heart of King Solomon against the Lord. He did not walk with a perfect heart with Him. As a result of this, enemies started to rebel against him.
Like in the Garden of Eden the second Adam had His own experience of the voice of a woman in John2:1-5. Pushed by His mother to act before His right time,Jesus said,”Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”
Therefore, whether you are a man or woman reading this,be very careful about the voice of a woman.
This is not meant to discredit the women race at all. Their role can not be underrated in the Lord’s scheme of things.
There are good voices of women but one must exercise caution in heeding any,if you want to inherit the kingdom of God.
