There are so many people on the face of the earth who strongly believe that there is a “Divine Being” who is behind everything that takes place on eath and beyond.
They are also convinced that this Divine Being must be honored, worshipped and sacrifices must be offered to Him.
People from different cultures and races have therefore devised various ways to worship this “Being”.
Some are kind and sincere enough to call Him an “Unknown God”. In the days of Apostle Paul, on his visit to Athens, he declared to such people he met,
“Men of Athens, I noticed that you are very religious in every way, for as I was walking along I saw your many shrines. And one of your altars had this inscriptions on it, ‘To an unknown God.’
This God, whom you worship without knowing, is the one I’m telling you about.”
The man, Paul, then explained who God is to them.
Not only this, there are many people, in their attempt to worship God, ended doing so to “the works of men’s hands (idols)”. These are worthless things. This group provoke God to anger.
Another section of the people claim they are more sure of their service to God. They chose to worship “the works of God’s hands” like sun, moon, stars and the forces of heaven.
Let it be known to you, dear reader, that God, who made the world and everything in it, had strictly forbidden such.
Sincere worshippers sometimes in error, for many reasons, do worship Ministering spirits of God, that is, angels. The experience of past true worshippers of God had shown that God is not delighted in His people doing this. The experience of Apostle John, the beloved, is a clear case of this. He declared in Revelation 22:8-9
“I, John, am the one who heard and saw all these things.
And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me.
But he said, “No, don’t worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers the prophets, as well as all who obey what is written in this book (the Holy Bible) worship God!”
This angel was not ready (and no one should) to take one percent of God’s glory or praise. Therefore,
*every true worshipper must not worship an angel that GOD sends to show great revelations or give understanding of great mysteries.
* every servant of God and believer MUST NOT allow himself to be worshipped. People will want to do this but he must resist it by all means.
The question is: how do I worship God?
1. Love Him.
2. Fear Him.
3. Be a living sacrifice.
4. Please Him all the time.
*bless His Holy name;
*do everything in His holy name and for His glory only.
